This is part two of a blog where Nicky Percival Kent and Sussex Interior Designer is explaining how she renovated and redesigned the interior of a Decimus Burton house from the 19th century. The first blog focussed on the ground floor and in this one she explores how work progressed on the first floor.
A Contemporary Refit for a Classic Design
Rebuilding A Derelict Barn Planning Permission With Caveats
Nicky Percival Interior Designer is currently working on an interesting and challenging project: the conversion/rebuild of a derelict old barn. But the planning permission has caveats. It was only granted because a building already existed, the client cannot demolish and rebuild from scratch. The only option is to remove and rebuild the old barn in sections.
Every Corner Tells A Story
Do you have any corners in your house that may have been neglected over the years and could do with a new lease of life? Nicky Percival Interior Designer discusses three properties that she has worked on recently with clients who each had their own, subtly differing, tastes. She shows how to give some important corners a character of their own, whilst still allowing them to blend beautifully with the more general feel of the overall space.

The clients a couple with almost teenage children asked Nicky to come up with a new interior design direction for the whole house whilst working within a relatively tight budget.

Whatever period, or style, of property you live in, if you are embarking on an interior design project and you have a large wall space, Nicky Percival Interior Designer will demonstrate how there is nothing more striking and eye-catching than adding a beautiful, hand-painted mural to make a perfect ‘showcase’.
Enhancing, Layering & Livening Things Up

Managing Projects Through The Pandemic and Beyond
During the pandemic and lockdowns, people were spending more time at home than ever. I was working on three projects in particular which were affected in various ways.
