Nicky Percival Interior Designer was asked to help design accommodation for elderly parents moving to the UK for the first time. They would be living in newly converted annexe accommodation with their daughter and his family in an ‘arts and crafts’ style property in Kent. This brought about an exciting challenge and opportunity to design the space with the multi generational needs at the heart of the plan.

Renovating and Extending a Listed Period Cottage - Part One
Nicky Percival Interior Designer was tasked with the design for a listed period cottage which was being renovated and extended. In the first of two blogs on this project, Nicky will share the ideas for each room, and the digital mood boards created which helped guide her clients in choosing the direction for the redesign.
Sprucing Up A Sitting-Room
Nicky Percival Interior Designer transforms a dark Victorian cottage sitting room into something light, elegant and comfortable. Although only one room, it needed a complete rethink – a new design direction, colour scheme and interior redecoration, along with new lighting, soft furnishings and suitable accessories.
Updating a 1960s family home: a look at the highlights
Nicky Percival Interior Designer updates a 1960s family home. The family had been living in the house for six years, the children were growing up, and the remodel needed to reflect changing needs of the family members. Nicky realised there was a need for a new design direction, fresh colour schemes and general interior decoration throughout to bring this 1960s family home into 21st century family living.
Beautiful Bathroom Storage
Nicky Percival Interior Designer shows how when designing our bathrooms we need to optimise space and bathroom storage, ensuring that the bathroom caters for our everyday needs whilst ensuring it is still a place for luxurious indulgence, a place where we can relax and unwind. She demonstrates that this can be done through careful planning of bathroom storage and optimising the space available.
Scandi Boho Design
Nicky Percival, Interior Designer was tasked with creating a Scandi Boho design for a one bedroom apartment in Brighton. The client was in her 20’s and this style suited her personality and her sense of aesthetics. Enhancing, Layering & Livening Things Up
The focus of my brief for a client’s house in Tonbridge was to make it more comfortable for family living and bring an overall sense of cohesive design throughout the whole house. We used soft furnishings and found key pieces of furniture, lighting and accessories to tie everything together, blending with, offsetting and adding to an overall palette of blues, greens and neutrals.
A Victorian House, Refreshed For Modern Living
One of my most satisfying and enjoyable recent projects was an 1860s end-of-terrace house in Rochester. This was a property whose ground floor was in need of a decorative overhaul. We wanted to give the property a new look, whilst holding onto its traditional feel, transforming it into something with class and impact, yet remaining suitable for contemporary family life.
Managing Projects Through The Pandemic and Beyond
During the pandemic and lockdowns, people were spending more time at home than ever. Whilst most building companies were happy to return to work once lockdown rules eased, supply chain issues and rising costs caused unexpected delays and some budgetary problems. I was working on three projects in particular which were affected in various ways.
